Cataglyphis bicolor complex - my colony
Privet vsem!
I will here present my Cataglyphis bicolor complex ant colony. This species you can find in north africa, my ants are from Тунис (Джерба).
A friend bring me one colony, he had hollydays on Джерба and search for this species. He find only two colonys, one for me and one for himself.
I get the colony with 53 workers and some eggs. After one week i had many many eggs more. My colony:
1 gyne,
53 workers,
0 pupa,
0 big larvae,
0 normal larvae,
1 small larvae,
60-70 eggs and very small larvae
Here are some pictures (from 05.04.2010):
Here the first video i made from this ants, it will show how they bring a spider in the nest. NOTE the worker look first where is the nest entry and go back to the spider (on end of video you can see it)
So this are all old news from the colony, the first nest and arena was to small. I make in this time a new nest and a new formicarium. I use my old Formicarium of my Campnotus fellah. I make an desert look formicarium for my Cataglyphis. Here you can see:

In the last month the ants have get many larvae in all ranges now. They are very fast with get new workers. The Larvae are very big and very hungry. Take a look to this pictures (from 02.05.2010):
You see the larvae are very nice. Yesterday i make this pictures:
I am happy that they have now pupa. Here is my last stand of my colony:
1 gyne,
53 workers,
10 pupa,
30 big larvae,
20 normal larvae,
40 small larvae,
60-70 eggs and very small larvae

Я думаю, это просто поилка сверху, а не система увлажнения ) интересно бы посмотреть на поилку поподробнее..
А пенопласт внутри, чтобы декоративный холм был не такой тяжелый, я думаю он из гипса или из йотонга вырезан.
Ich denke, es ist nur ein Trinker auf, anstatt Befeuchtungssystem) wäre interessant, an der Trinker genauer schauen ..
Ein Schaum innen nach dekorativen, der Hügel sei nicht so hart, ich denke, er machte aus Gips oder yotong geschnitten.
з.ы. Mathias, und Sie haben eine Beschreibung, wie man so eine wunderbare Arena produziert?

Не надо я ничего плохого не имел в виду!! просто мне очень обидно что я 4 года учу немецкий и толком ничего ни знаю
p.s. Питер это действительно культурная столица!!!, если даже сотни отморозков и невоспитанных людей есть то обобщать не надо )) в целом народ здесь очень отзывчивый и дружный ))

I hope i can give good answers of all your questions.
I have search for a good ground for my Formicariums, when you design this "hill" with Y-tong you have a very massive Formicarium. So i found this Полистирол (). It is very light and you can work with it very well. I make this "hill" and close all open things with Гипс, i design it with Гипс. My last work was to mixed Суглинок and sand and water and to paint the mountain with it.
The entry you see (Tube), there i can conect a Nest or an Formicarium more.
